I've signed up to the new site and Meeting Calendar, which works
fine, but when it comes to syncing, it wants to delete all the old
meetings. This means there will probably be no record of anything
MMUG pre Oct 2009. It's a small point but something that writers of
History are increasingly worried about - there will soon be no primary
evidence of anything written down, and the 30 year rule will become
irrelevant (When they open the box, there'll be nothing there, it'll
all be whizzing round cyberspace). Just a thought.

Yes you are correct Alasdair, the events history is missing along with
the comments, users, profiles, sales & wants.
The reason for it is that the site is set up differently (only
slightly, but enough to be a pain) & was migrated to Drupal 6.
Transferring the events isn't a case of just importing.

I spent several days trying to import the whole site history, and
decided it wasn't an effective use of my time, I was holding off
putting up the site because comments were messed up or publish dates
were wrong, some fields were filtered incorrectly …
There are tools to do migration in Drupal, but it takes time to try
them and see which ones fit our needs.

If anyone comes knocking for the old content it is still backed up in
the old database.
If you have a need to see the older stuff then Archive.org (wayback
machine linked below) is a good place to start.
http://web.archive.org/web/*/http://www.mmug.org.uk

I'd like to get the older content on the site, for the sake of
continuity, but at the moment I don't have the time to do it properly,
sorry.
