Hi Folks,

I keep getting a pop up that says my Flash Player has quit unexpectedly and it will tell Apple.

Is there anything I can do about it or should I just ignore it?

Thanks,

Lindsay Newton

You can update Flash to see if that helps, http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/

Otherwise there is a 'Flash blocker' that works nicely with Safari, it just doesn't load the Flash files until you click on the boxes on the page. You can also add sites to always show Flash files (eg youtube). It's really nice, and it stops Flash using 90% of CPU. There are add ons for Firefox, Opera etc if you want to block Flash in other browsers.

I'm a big fan of Clicktoflash. I found a lot of sites were loading Flash-powered ads that were completely worthless to me but using lots of processor power, producing fan noise, and draining battery life. C2F is installed on all my machines now.

Hi
I liked the idea and have just installed it. It seemed to me that it's only for Safari, when my default browser is FireFox. Is it going to run with FF automatically, or do I have something else?

The plug-in architecture for Safari and Firefox are completely different. You would need to install the FF version to run it there, and the Safari version for blocking there. The same applies to Google Chrome. They all offer flash and ad blocking plug ins to make your viewing experience much nicer.

Try the FlashBlock add-on for Firefox.
