Subject: Water and Humanitarian crisis in Iraq (TFRP)

Hey everybody, That Fresh Radio Piece wanted to wish all you a great new
semester and invite you to listen to TFRP's first broadcast for Fall 2007.
This week we'll be looking at
The water and humanitarian crisis in Iraq following the U.S. invasion and
war. These past years have seen a decrease in Iraqi's access to drinkable
water and increasing poverty among the Iraqi people, in particular internal
refugees, children and infants.

Recent reports indicate that the famous Tigres and Euphrates rivers have
become exploited and damaged to such an extent, that now 70% of Bahgdad's
population have no access to drinking water. An estimated 11 million people
in Iraq (43% of the population) live in poverty, threatened by starvation if
conditions do not improve.
