We're about to enter into discussions
about interlibrary loan in our state and I'd be interested to hear how
some of you view reciprocal borrowing with neighboring library users

Our Big Horn County Commissioners take applications for each specific board
position, library board being one. We members of the current library board
do not get our say in appointments, however we do usually ask people who we
know are interested in the library and would be active on our board to apply.

How does your county recruit new trustees? Do you use an application
for trustees or a letter or interest? Is an application specific to
the library or general for all boards? Does the board have an input
into who the commissioners appoint?
Diane Henriksen
Rosebud County

We now have 17 members on the MLA Trustees discussion list. So, it's
quite possible that you will get a response to a question or issue
which has been weighing on your mind. For example, Diane, you might
want to resend your question about applications for trustee positions.
Suzanne Reymer
Montana State Library
