TENURE-TRACK POSITION AT THE COMPUTER SCIENCE DEPARTMENT
CICESE, MÉXICO (
www.cicese.mx)
CICESE is a premier research facility funded by the Mexican federal
government through the
National Research Council (CONACyT). It is located in the northwestern
part of Mexico, in the
Pacific Rim, some 120 kilometers south of San Diego, California.
CICESE has some 180 full time
scientists and 200 highly qualified technicians in the areas of Earth
Sciences, Life Sciences, Applied
Physics and Computer Science. The region has a wonderful climate,
while the city of Ensenada is
known to have the largest number of scientists per capita in Mexico,
creating a motivating
atmosphere, reflected in the cultural activities of the area.
Research interests in the Computer Science Department (CSD) at CICESE
are Image Processing
and Computer Vision, Parallel and Distributed Computing, Software
Engineering, Mobile and
Ubiquitous Computing, Evolutionary Computation, Information Retrieval,
Computer Algorithms and
Scientific Computing. The CSD has 11 researchers, all of them fellows
of the National Research
System (SNI) who are full time professors of the graduate program in
Computer Science offering
Masters and PhD degrees. On a yearly basis there are about 35 students
enrolled in the Masters
program and about 25 PhD students. Both programs are funded by CONACyT
and all the students
have full scholarships for the entire duration of their graduate
studies, hence researchers do not
need to fund them individually. All the researchers have access to
local funds, mainly for mobility to
conferences, and can apply for larger projects with the industry,
government and CONACyT.
The suitable candidate must have a Ph.D. in Computer Science and solid
academic credentials. We
are looking for senior scholars with high academic productivity and
corresponding impact in the
international scientific community as well as young dynamic
candidates, who possess publications in
high impact journals. Candidates with similar/complementary academic
interests as those of our
academic scholars are of special interest for the department. We value
commitment to the academic
life, communication skills, leadership, scientific networking and team
work experience. Suitable
candidates must be willing to contribute to the graduate program,
lecturing and supervising graduate
theses on a regular basis.
All interested applicants should send the following information and
documents:
1. Application letter stating research interests, a one year research
proposal, and a list of the
possible lectures/courses to offer.
2. Detailed curriculum vitae, including three selected papers
representative of his/her current
research.
3. Two letters of recommendation by known scholars familiar with the
candidate’s academic career.
Address all the documents to:
