Does anyone know what to expect from changing the alpha and beta
parameters to the h.264 encoder? I tried swinging them from the
default of (0,0) to (-8,-8) and could not tell any difference in
the two videos.

The data rate on the second run was much higher than before, but
I do not know if that is a result of other things.

I've never seen much difference, or really got my head around, the de-
blocking settings when using, e.g., x.264 to encode on computer.

I would say, however, that de-blocking is more important down the very-
heavily-compressed end of the spectrum. So to test you want to a drop
your data rate until you see some blocking, then tweak the paramaters
and see what changes.

But I can't imagine choosing to shoot at a bit-rate where deblocking
comes into consideration. Not routinely.
