Sorry Alex i dont know what happened but with this last autoexec.bin camera wont' start at all if I take the card off, camera will start normally

For battery tests, here's a stripped down autoexec for 60D only. It does not start any tasks or do anything CPU-intensive; it only polls battery level every second, and display the same info as the big one.
This is useful for measuring power draw of standard firmware.
When the display is off, this autoexec may stop working (because the camera may enter in powersave mode, where the CPU is paused). So, for photo mode, we need to use pen and paper :)
Keep in mind that battery percentage may vary in a nonlinear way, so probably a good way to compare numbers is to take one reading with full ML, another reading with stripped-down autoexec, another one with full ML and another one with the stripped-down one.

This is enabled on all other cameras, where it also enables aperture control in 1/8 EV steps. ML doesn't display the exact values, but you can hear them :)
Other changes: - Green screen feature ported from AJ, disguised as a false color preset - New menu named "Display" (just re-arranged the menus a bit)

Thank you :) The next step would be controlling those values without going into ML menu, with wheels and maybe zoom buttons for the iso. Do you think it's possible? On my 50D aperture change looks a bit delayed, at least the numbers come a bit later than the actual selection.

back when i was looking at the 50d firmware and saw that it had all of the video recording functions like the 500d (this was months before Alex actually implemented recording) I think I remember seeing it supports 480p and 1080p, IIRC. it's somewhere in the 50d thread on the chdk forum.
try changing the property for video_mode_resolution

Yes, i well remember that post :D I don't know a thing about coding, i'll wait for Alex :D It's strange that it lacks 720p, have you investigated what that dryos message was about?
Just tried it on my 50D. When I turned it on, the lower part of the default gui, there is like an icon that keeps on blinking. It didn't stop. It still doesn't go away if I go inside liveview then back to it again.
For the video quality, I tested it on low light, it is phenomenal!!! I'll post the vide shortly!!! :)

** It unlocks 1/25s shutter speed in movie mode on all cameras! (in 24p and 25p). **
I've tested it by looking at motion blur, and it's practically 360 degrees. This will improve low-light performance a bit (not much, only by 1/3 stops).
It also seems to unlock 1/8000 in 550D, ISO 12800 in movie mode on 60D and maybe a few others.
To use this, you need to enable Exposure Override (this time it's in Movie menu, at the bottom). It works by enabling a special debug mode in LiveView, where the camera ignores ISO, shutter and aperture changed from Canon buttons (scrollwheel etc) and also some of their limits. The values displayed by Canon graphics will be ignored completely (but ML displays the ones which are being used).
Today's update only brings a few minor changes (like moving the exposure override in Movie menu, marking this mode with a red rectangle in the bottom bar, and fixing some flicker on the bottom bar on HDMI).
It also enables 640x480 in 50D. It's a bit hidden, because it's something you shouldn't use... unless you still have a 486 computer :)
> Still, one of the misteries for me is about battery duration.
Let's wait for battery tests from the users... hopefully the 60D autoexec for running the tests was not downloaded only by Cristian :)
In my quick tests, the 60D draws about 5% more power with ML (with zebras and peaking active), compared to standard Canon firmware. My battery lasts for around 3 hours (according to ML indicator) in LiveView, with zebras, peaking and maximum LCD brightness.
