Hi,

If you have the 5D Mark III and want to help ML dev, please contact
me.
I propose to try the 1100/T3 "remote dump method" on this new model.
No camera has been hurt during the operation neither the 1100D,
neither my 550D ;-)
Thanks.

I donated to the development of ML for the 5Dm2 and then bought one
for myself when ML supported it. Love it! I would be happy to donate
again towards the purchase of a 5Dm3 for the ML team! Make a link!!

I second the motion.  I haven't decided 100% but it is highly likely I will buy.

Ok - I need a shrink who wants to help...

I spent $8,000 once on a Mark II 1 DS in 2005. It was an excellent camera and I made a lot of money with it. Shot landmark images with it that helped define my career. I sold it for $1800 last year and bought a 60D. In between I also bought the first 5D and the 5D Mark II. I am not in a position where I have to compete with the cannibals who give away their files and are destroying the industry. The point is, already having a full frame chip, the 60D was an awesome buy. Its images strongly rival the 5D Mark II which rivaled the Mark II 1DS but now offered HD Video. The 60 D allowed me to jack the camera up on a monopod and see the video I was shooting above the crowd with the flip screen. Its time to sell the 5D and buy something else before its value is gone.

The price tag for the Mark III is $1000 more than the 5d Mark II and in 12 months they will roll out a crop chip prosumer model or full size chip model with features so close that pros can hardly tell the difference.

What do you folks think?

I almost feel better - just needed to vent a little.

Hi Dave,

It is to dump memory on CF card. I send you a magic .fir file, and you
run it. Nothing is written but on the CF.
It would allow starting ML dev on 5dm3.

Is it possible that they might have changed the keys?

Yes, it is possible. Like they did on 550d.

Having now seen 1080p footage from the 5d mkiii, and seeing that it still has artefacts/moire - despite what was promised in the press release - I will be waiting a bit longer to see what the 4k cinema dslr is like, hopefully it will be better. What i really wanted from the mkiii was 4:2:2 and proper downscaling instead of lineskipping. Too much to ask it seems. 1080i from hdmi is not good enough, I hate working with interlaced footage.

For photographic purposes, the better AF is very welcome but not something that would make me upgrade from my Mkii.

It's let down for Mark 3. I hope Canon wont price their upcoming 4k dslr at 10k plus range.... gotta admit i have a hunch it will turn out to be.

Unfortunately that price tag would make the most sense for Canon, as it would go in between the 5Dmk3 and the C300.
