Ok - I need a shrink who wants to help...
I spent $8,000 once on a Mark II 1 DS in 2005. It was an excellent camera and I made a lot of money with it. Shot landmark images with it that helped define my career. I sold it for $1800 last year and bought a 60D. In between I also bought the first 5D and the 5D Mark II. I am not in a position where I have to compete with the cannibals who give away their files and are destroying the industry. The point is, already having a full frame chip, the 60D was an awesome buy. Its images strongly rival the 5D Mark II which rivaled the Mark II 1DS but now offered HD Video. The 60 D allowed me to jack the camera up on a monopod and see the video I was shooting above the crowd with the flip screen. Its time to sell the 5D and buy something else before its value is gone.
The price tag for the Mark III is $1000 more than the 5d Mark II and in 12 months they will roll out a crop chip prosumer model or full size chip model with features so close that pros can hardly tell the difference.
What do you folks think?
I almost feel better - just needed to vent a little.
