The last few days I've been tinkering with mono
(http://mono-project.com/Main_Page) trying to get the mises.org site
to run on a linux box with mono installed (has anyone else done this?)
Currently I'm stuck becuase "System.Data.Entity" which is a WCF "Linq
to Entities" assembly is not supported by the latest mono, it's
supposed to be worked on this year.

Does anyone know if the mises site actually uses this or did it just
get included by default?

Has anyone else successfully got this to run with mono? I'm pretty
much running blind with mono (my first install) and I really don't
have a very deep knowledge of .Net so I'm double blind you might say.

Any constructive comments would be appreciated.

I suggest you start commenting things out until it runs.  We don't use Entity Framework for anything at the moment.

Oh, and make a branch so you can share it with us.

well I've got it to stop complaining but now I'm getting a circular
redirect to itself. From root '/' to root '/' Anyone know anything
about the web code that may cause this?

I haven't fiddled with importing the DB yet or changed any of the db
settings (not really sure where those settings are anyway). So this
might have something to do with it. At least it's not giving any
application errors anymore, it's actually trying to serve me a page.

Anyone else ever use mono? Anyone know anything about it, like where
any logs are? Like I said before I'm groping in the dark, learning as
I go.

oh, and what level should I branch at David? Just the web.config or
the whole project? I have no idea how far reaching the changes will
be to get this up....

David,

Would it make sense to go through the WCF for the website, or will
that just slow it down? I'm starting to establish the DB connections
via mono and was wondering if I should grab a db dump, import, and
point to my local mysql server or try to go through the WCF you
recently implemented. Any thoughts on the subject? I'm not sure what
the level of support for WCF is in mono but I'll look into it if
that's the route you think is best.
