out of about 20 or so that i've played in so far.
usually about 10 players per tourney.
so i'm up, overall.
haven't been playing for months, too busy with business and whatnot.
...
texas hold'em.
i lost most of the early tournaments because i was busy training
everyone to believe i was an insane bluffer.
well, to be honest, that's exactly what i was back then.
so training everyone in that regard was not nearly as difficult as one
might assume.
anyway, they all came to hate me eventually, because of my frequently
raising, playing position for all its worth.
they certainly liked me much better when i was always losing.
the point is, i soon taught them to start respecting my "bluffs".
...
$10 buy-in for $1550 in chips.
unlimited $10 cash rebuys until the 15 minute food break, then you get
one more rebuy after that.
to qualify for a rebuy, you must have less than your original $1550 in
chips.
big blind starts at $20.
every fifteen minutes the small blinds goes up $10.
10/20
20/40
30/60
40/80
50/100
60/120
70/140
80/160
food time!
after the break, the small blind is $100 and it increases by $50 every
fifteen minutes.
100/200
150/300
200/400
250/500
300/600
and so on.
until everyone goes bust except one.
pot split goes like this:
3rd place: $10 cash
2nd place: 30% of what's left after the 3rd place $10 is deducted.
1st place: 70%
so it's always nice to see lots of rebuys, because that way the kitty
gets real big.
as you can imagine, frequent all-ins are both the most desired and the
most entertaining events of the night.
and bad beats, of course.
everyone loves a sob story.
except the S.O.B. who's sobbing, of course.
anyway, the most amusing of all buy-ins are the ones made during
moments of emotional insanity when it gets down to only three or four
players left. at that point, the big blind consumes the rebought stack
after only a few quick rounds of big and small blinds passing
through.
but it's particularly amusing when that player is already on tilt
mode.
because then it only takes one hand to lose the new stack (two, at
most).
it's the nature of coin flips at work.
love that game.
