Hey, you are the FAQ woman, right? I know your name so well. I have the

offended by that. But, it's really fabulous seeing your name here again!

I was thinking of you just a couple of days ago when an old face
reappeared and swore up and down that in years gone by, this was a place
where people were posting their stuff and the group was a-swirl with
creative juices and sharp critiques and discussions of posted work.
Great things were happening! he said. Claimed there was no prohibition
against posting work in the old days. Didn't seem to remember what the
posting guidelines said, but then he was just doing his usual, trying to
stir things up, so whether he remembered or not is moot.
Only 938 posts in December to date? Even with BA^H^H edrick stirring
things up? How pathetic is that?
Hope you're well.

Surely you remember Wendy Chatley Green, Heather--you two had posted back and
forth in a thread where you preached to Wendy about the children she adopted.
You went after her for adopting healthy white babies from safe backgrounds.
When she informed you that none of her adopted children fit that description,
you then weasel-shifted by going after Wendy for *only* being able to adopt
FIVE unwanted children. FIVE.
Heather/
serenebabe: "While I think it's wonderful you adopted children,
how many of them were crack babies? [...] How many of
them have different skin color than you? How many of
them suffer from Fetal Alcohol Syndrome? How many of
them were tortured as infants [...] How many children
you adopted can you confirm came from mothers who
lived in extraordinary poverty and/or abusive
situations? How many more children are you willing
to adopt?
"I am glad you adopted, and I hope to adopt one day, too.
"I do think, though, the point isn't your children were
unwanted once -- your children had mothers who were
able to choose adoption. [...]"
Wendy: "Ha--all of them were taken from their families (two
families--we adopted a sibling group of four) for
abuse and neglect. All the parents chose to do was
to mistreat, molest, and/or abandon their kids."
* * * * * * * *
Heather/
serenebabe: "[..] I'm not sure why you wrote 'Ha' though, that strikes
me as inappropriate for such a serious conversation. [...]"
Wendy: "[...] The 'ha' was a comment on your assumption that I
had obtained healthy white babies from healthy white
mothers.
"What about me makes you believe that I'd do the
easy thing?"
* * * * * * * *
Heather/
serenebabe: "But, Wendy, are you able to adopt all the children
who are living lives made up of abuse and neglect? [...]"
Wendy: "No, I can't adopt them all--should we kill them? [...]
Truth is--the world is imperfect and we can't make it
perfect. We can only do as much as we can do. Should
you ever adopt (most people who talk about it don't
follow through), you will have made someone's life
better. [...]
"True shame lies not in being unable to do more,
but in doing nothing."
So Heather, after all your Tsk-Tsk preaching to Wendy and your telling her
your hopes to have adopted children, surely you didn't choose to DOING
NOTHING, right?
You've been married for years--how many unwanted children did *you* save so
far by adopting them?
Show us how you can sail through the same test you presumed you had the right
to put Wendy through: How many of the children you adopted can you "confirm
came from mothers who lived in extraordinary poverty and/or abusive
situations", Heather? I mean, after all, Wendy only rescued FIVE children
from such situations. Of those *you* adopted, "how many of them were crack
babies? [...] How many of them have different skin color than you?" "How many
more children are you willing to adopt", Heather?

I'm sure Wendy won't get offended because she's not the getting-offended
sort. But as someone who has hung out in this newsgroup on and off since
1996, I can't imagine anyone not remembering *exactly* who Wendy is
because for many years, she was a fixture here, just as Sal has been, as
well as Stan and Hound and many other original MWers. Remember
Misc.Writingville? You should, you used to participate in it. Give that
"worst memory" of yours a not-so-gentle nudge and you'll remember that
Wendy was the proprietor of Hanks-A-Lot, MWVille's Yarn Shop. Yes, MWV
seems to be a thing of the past, and yes, Wendy has been away for a
while, but the name Wendy Chatley Green has always been synonymous with
misc.writing, and Heather, even with the world's worst memory, I cannot
and do not for one minute believe you don't remember that.
Plus, from what I can see on Google Groups, Wendy last posted here just
about one year ago. You've forgotten that too?
Next question: Why do you play these "Oh, my memory is just the worst!"
games? And they are quite obviously games, Heather. Maybe everyone
doesn't see it, but I do.
~ ~ ~
PJ
Plenty of sugar-free fruitcakes here in MW.
Not to spring to Heather's defense (oooh, bad idea!), but as you'll
find out in years to come when your knees bang your tits with every
step, details go away with time. I was here before Wendy left, and
although I remember Wendy with nearly-fond respect, I don't remember
any of the details you quoted. I don't even remember Heather from
those times.
And don't make wisecracks about old men having tits, those are
pectoral muscles and I can lift an 18-wheeler with just one of them.

BUSTED! (again)
Yep, there are your responses to MWV. So, Heather, how did you manage to
participate in it when you claim that you " didn't even follow
misc.writingville"? Were you using the same magic as Zen when he claimed he
*never* read my posts, though he replied to them?
Oh, I forgot--you've also claimed that you don't know who Zen is, either.
Yeah, right. (c)
> Oh, thanks!
<amused>
I'm pretty sure that link wasn't for your sake, Heather, you were already
aware that you knew about MWV. gekko's link disproves your denial of Miz PJ's
claim about you.
<checking Heather/serenebabe Pattern>
Time for her Weasel Shifting (c):
> After I wrote that, I thought, well, DAMN, even the most reasonable m.w

No one as much as suggested that you had any reason to look up MWV to know
about it, Heather. They *know* you know about it--you *participated* in it.
> So, I was going to go look it up. I mostly just remember thinking, wow,
> they're having a lot of fun with that
Heather, how could you remember that the MIGS who played in MWV had "a lot of
fun" when you also claim that you "didn't even follow misc.writingville"?
> (and didn't think of myself as participating).
Weasel. gekko responded to your claim that you didn't "even follow" it.
Besides, the MIGS who participated in MWV wrote themselves into the narrative.
*You* wrote yourself into the narrative. See how that's "participating"?
And, back to Miz PJ's point, which, golly, you seem to have forgotten:
"I can't imagine anyone not remembering *exactly* who Wendy
is because for many years, she was a fixture here [...]
"Why do you play these 'Oh, my memory is just the worst!' games?
And they are quite obviously games, Heather."
So, Heather, I don't suppose you're willing to address what Miz PJ actually
wrote, are ya?
--
Sylvia

> I was counting on you, Sylvia, to refresh my memory.

It's not *your* memory I'm aimin' to refresh, Heather. Like Miz PJ, I also
know that you don't need it.
"I can't imagine anyone not remembering *exactly* who Wendy
is because for many years, she was a fixture here [...]
"Why do you play these 'Oh, my memory is just the worst!' games?
And they are quite obviously games, Heather."
-- Miz PJ
> And, I'm one of those who talked about it but won't follow through.
Nothing new there. And, it's clear that here you didn't just
"talk"--incredible as it is, you tried to shame Wendy with your hypocritical
holier-than-thou preaching about her adoption of five children.
<chortle!>
Didn't go over too well, did it? Considering your arrogant attitude, I thought
she was amazingly restrained. Still, Wendy certainly put you in yer place.
And, Heather, while I am more than convinced that you are so shallow that such
an incident could have left you untouched, no one could have posted here for
over ten years to the extent you have and not know who Wendy Chatley Green is.

The new direction of America? What would that be? Things will get
