three scenes in particular:

1. frustrated and pacing, he lets out a scream.

2. just before the big party, playfully ordering a sandwich.

3. yearning for his college days, under the stars.

couldn't find it here:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0208874/quotes

so, from memory:

[several of the key players have gathered in the
President's office (just prior to the big state dinner)
to meet each other regarding a major pending
announcement about the VP candidate situation.
everyone's in formal attire shaking hands during
introductions. eventually they all sit down and the
President walks to his desk. and just before the
dramatic pivotal discussion begins, President
minorly adjusts his perfectly fitting tuxedo saying]

"I hate the food they serve at these functions."

[picks up phone]

"Yeah, Trevor, can you start up a grilled cheese.

[remembers his manners and polls the small office]

Anyone else want anything?

[they all decline. he puts phone back to head]

No muenster?!

[deep sigh]

Well... get on that right away.

We don't want the wheels to come off on this."

[meeting proceeds]

[checkmate begins]

But even in view of that, it's still a toss-up between him and B. H.
Obama in . . . hm! What's the name of that silly flick?

LOL

one hopes they play that clip over and over while waterboarding W in a
futile attempt to exonerate Cheney.

They really ought to enshrine a few stills from that video in marble
bas relief. They could have it chiseled into the walls of a little
monument about the size of a telephone booth or an outhouse somewhere
out behind the Lincoln or the Washington.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe that is the same movie that was
first released under the straight to DVD title, "Obama Meets
Godzilla"?

President Merkin Muffley! Ah, yes. Great story behind that name. For
those who are yet in the dark about what a "merkin" is, or for that
matter what "Muffley" actually refers to . . .

Mars Attacks! Possibly his most masterful performance to date.

They showed a totally hip old flick on TCM tonight, "Cry Tough" (with
John Saxon) from a novel by Irving Shulman (Amboy Dukes, Rebel Without
a Cause). Robert Osbourne proclaimed it "interesting," in total
clueless agreement with that fossilized old square Bosley Crowther who
reviewed in '59 it for the Times. The "generation gap" is still here,
and apparently will never go away. Here I am, high school class of '63
and 63 years old, and nothing's changed yet. No generation that went
before or after us is yet to get us figured out.
