POLL -- What percentage of your beliefs are pure bullshit?

would you have even the vaguest idea how to figure that out?

it's a little less than 1% for moi.

i can live with that.

i don't think i could live with 0%.

that would be kinda harsh.

...

c'mon, admit it.

Depends on how you define bullshit.

If you're talking inconsistent, as in, couldn't be defended if I
really, really, really studied them, I'd say 15%. For example, I adore
television. I believe television is a fabulous escape from real life
and often causes me to think about issues in new ways. Plus, I believe
it's a lot of fun. I also believe television is responsible for a great
deal of our social problems today (lack of critical thinking, etc.).
Our daughter didn't watch television until she was 5 and now she only
watches 2-4 hours a week ("family movie night" plus a couple hours
since I've been pregnant--I've needed the downtime). We have kept her
tv-free because of the damage we believe tv does to little brains. But
I also believe it wastes my time.

So, it wastes my time, hurts our society overall, and I keep my kid
away from it. But, if you asked me to give up The Shield (two more
eps!) or The Wire (done) or even Monk, Psych, or House, I wouldn't do
it.

That's a kind of bullshit, right?

How are you defining bullshit, Zero?

Last season for Monk. Enjoy it while you can.

I'm working my way steadily toward 100% as judged by the standard
commonly called "sanity".

It's fairly easy, anything that stinks of horseshit gets tossed and
what's left is bullshit. Nearly everything learnt during childhood as
"fact" has been done for, and now I'm working my way through the more
recent horseshit.

Oddly, bullshit works better than the horseshit did. Go figure.
