Hi ALL,

Just wanted to drop you a note and let you know that I DID IT!!! The
NaNoWriMo thingie, that is. I actually finished 51,860 words by 4 pm today.
My novel isn't complete, however. I still have 5 chapters left to finish it
but I promised certain people that I would do so before the end of the year
and I will attempt to keep my promise. (They inexplicably wish to read this
opus of mine.) Well, since I first thought of the premise in 1995, I guess
it was time to finish it. I feel quite exhausted. But exhilarated as well.

Write on everyone!!!

Gram

Well, I got one-third of that, not quite 16K words. My internal editor
kept breaking out of his cage. But I did get a good start, and I
expect to keep going. I should finish around March sometime.

Doing a different story might relieve me of my obsession for finishing
editing The Sisters of Kali, maybe give me a fresh perspective on it.

Thanks, Bill. I'm still floating on clouds today.

I have always promised myself I would write a novel but

Hehehehehe. I now have TWO completed novels, along with 2 sections of my
lifestory written. I have ideas for 4 more novels so I'd better get going.

Coolness and Congrats!

WHEN we all have our novels published, perhaps we can have a book signing
together? That would be a hoot, indeed. :-)

Good job!

My internal editor

I have learned how to tame THAT beast. Whiskey. It puts her to sleep and
then the rest of the voices in my head can have free range to do what they
like. And they did.

But I did get a good start, and I

Great! Once begun, ALWAYS finish, eventually, is MY motto.

Indeed. I have found that working on several things at one helps with the
*blocks* I run into. When in doubt, write something else, even if it's a
poem.

Good luck with finishing.

Congrats.

Mine was boring me to tears by 10,000 odd words, so I abandoned it for
far more exciting things happening in RL.

Maybe next year.

I can't really say 'I'm sorry', now can I? RL being more exciting sounds
pretty good. My RL was actually just put on hold for the month. NOW, I get
to party hearty. :-)

Indeed. I have an idea for next year already. Let's do it!

Nice, and congrats. I finished mine in 25 days (haw) and I am quite pleased
with it--though I don't know if there's a market for a romance novella that

mocks the Protestant work ethic, God, marriage, fidelity, and the Seven Habits

books. I now have one finished novel, one about halfway done (or a quarter--it
is expanding to the size of Shogun), this novella, short stories, and another
novel in bare outline that will get me and whoever publishes it assassinated
("Slowly she began to unzip her burka").

In bare outline, you say.

Very appropriate.

(People always wonder what is worn underneath a kilt, but why does no
one ever ask what is worn under those burkas?)

See the film Submission by the late Theo Van Gogh here:

The answer to your question in that case is "nothing". The answer in
real life, I'm told, is frequently "hot stuff". Apparently all those
Saudi, Kuwaiti and Qatari desert princesses dress up nice for Daddy
under those voluminous Bedouin tents. The idea is oddly arousing.
Well, not all that oddly, on reflection.

Wow! You have every right to be pleased. I found the entire affair quite
an experience, I must say. I'd written a novel in 6 months (before), but
never that many words in one month.

and I am quite pleased

Good. We should be pleased with out work, shouldn't we? I mean, if WE
don't like it, why should anyone else?

Hehehehehe. Sounds like your novel and mine would make a good duo for some

Well, you could always try to get it published in Canada. :-)
