Re: Definition of Surrealism?

Marty Fouts <usene...@usenet.nospam.fogey.com> got it wrong as usual:

>There are two kinds of people;
>those who think there are two kinds of
>people and those who get the joke.

i heard the correct surrealism on CNN the other day:

"there are only three kinds of people in this world...
those who can count, and those who can't"
-- Senator Bill Bradley
[live on CNN during his campaign kick-off speech]

[on July 23rd, 1999 at 7:30 PM, i saw the ultimate
talk-show topic. believe it or not, the name for that
day's installment of CNN's "Crossfire" was actually
titled]:

"Is The Media Focussing Too Much Attention On JFK Jr.?"
-- $Zero... <Zero...@aol.com> (Zero Pacino)

"he's intelligent, but... inexperienced.
his pattern indicates... two-dimensional thinking."
-- Spock [actor: Leonard Nimoy; from
the movie: "Star Trek: The Wrath of Kahn"]

This is getting out of hand! That's *my* joke! I started
it way back when _The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly_ was first
released, circa 1967. I eventually posted it on a local Seattle
BBS in 1984 (the first MiniBin), and within three days, it
was being bandied about coast-to-coast with nary an attribution.

Sure, somebody else could have thought of it, but the coincidence
of my posting and its suddenly proliferation over the cyberwaves
seems a bit too synchronistic to be mere chance.

And I've never gotten a penny in royalties. <sigh>
