That means he'll be out in 3 months, and then he'll sell his screenplay to HBO!!!
The Late Shift, the sequal (2011) (TV)...
It's worth the time....he can do it standing on his head.
White Collar Crime Pays.
The Starmaker
1,000 hours of community service!!!! Now that's unusall and cruel punishment...I would appeal that.
I want to know what Letterman does that's ....hinkey, or kinkey...or whatever..
"I know that you do some terrible, terrible things and that I can prove you do some terrible things."
What are those "terrible, terrible things"?
I want to know. I want to know. I want to know. I want to know...
Unless Halderman grossly alters the script (which would make it
unappealing to most of the producers) he CAN'T! I'm pretty sure
Letterman's lawyer took good care of that. When you get yer ass in
Court or prison, your crimes (whether white or … BLONDE) don’t pay.
Remember the BLONDE teacher who wasn’t allowed to show her ass in
Playboy?
If this was going to proceed, Halderman's lawyers would have deposed
Letterman under oath and he'd have to come up with the name of every
woman he had sex with since he started the show.
To escape that, Letterman's lawyers asked the cops to give Halderman
an offer he'd accept . . .
In related news, Bob arnot is shopping a roman-a-clef script about
some slimey intern-banging show host.......
Bob A. can do that, Halderman can’t play around the terms of his
probation and beyond it (obviously he accepted the terms of a deal to
get away with 6 months instead of 15 years). I dunno how much of a
risky business this is: 1. If the script is too transparent, the
author can be sued by many; 2. If the script is just about a boss
screwing around then it’d better be brilliantly written (let Bob know
I can help), since that kind of story was over-told to the bone

Depositions are for civil cases. This was a criminal case. The
defendant would not have the right to ask Letterman such questions.
In this situation, the defendant was smart to cop a plea, otherwise
he'd be looking at serious hard time. Extortion is extortion.
In the real world, criminals usually have a very hard time finding a
job after they get out of jail, especially in the field they screwed
up. That is, an bank embezzler won't be working for another bank.
But in the Hollywood world, this guy will probably get a new job as a
producer somewhere else.
