How long would a 30 minute tv show script have to be. I have just started
getting my ideas down on paper and I was curious on how long should they be.
Also as I live in England where are the best places to send them once they
are completed.
Any help would be appreciated.

I've been doing a TV series in my spare time for a few months now. First
thing is to set the plot for the whole series (if there needs to be one) and
then for each episode, carefully building up to the climax. Once you know
what the sub-plots and the main plot is going to be, then start writing
them. You should still stick to the one page per minute rule but with TV
scripts you can be more minimalist with your details of camera angles, shots
and transitions.
For the best agents, look in the Yellow Pages under Literary Agents and
Theatrical Agencies. They will have a listing of the main agencies. From
there, try phoning them one by one to see if they are accepting scripts and
how tied down they might be already.

Boy.
Basically, major broadcasters do not consider
ideas per se, but the BBC offers for example
a guidline on comedy requirements. Independents
consider ideas but do not be *too* optimistic.
Most competitive I am afraid.
Shows which use sketches are a good idea.
Often you can get a broad list of requirements
from the producers.
The script for your should would be about 30
pages in normal format.
30 minute TV scipt sort of implies 'sitcom' but of course this may not be
the case.
If it is, I find the Methuen book 'The Complete Fawlty Towers' a useful
touchstone to have around - these are, IMHO, the Shakespeare Sonnets of
British Sitcom.

Depends on how you lay it out on the page: standard screenplay format is
approx 1 minute per page, but other formats can be more or less than that.
Try reading out loud (and acting out) a few pages and timing them, to get
a rough idea. Then time the whole thing when you've finished.

Either: an agent (addresses in Contacts or the Writers' and Artists'
Yearbook, both from bookshops), or a production company which is
interested in your genre (addresses in the BFI Yearbook, from bookshops).
Writer-friends are invaluable -- so if you don't already have a few, you
might consider joining a local writers' group or class.
