I have yet to meet anyone who spent their 300 bucks to go to one of these things and either learned something they didn't already know, or made a contact that actually panned out and helped their career.

I haven't, but I wouldn't mind shaking his hand. Of course, some people are unhappy with Austin's weirdness (or perhaps they're just trying to make a buck) and they've started a "Make Austin Normal" campaign, complete with lots of shitty stuff to buy on Cafe Press.
