A CUP OF COMFORT blog entry announces the finalists for the next issue
(A CUP OF COMFORT FOR FATHERS) and explains why some stories did not
make the cut.

--------------------------
The main reason why most stories don't make the finalist cut--and this
applies not only to A Cup of Comfort Fathers but also to the other Cup
of Comfort anthologies--is because the story doesn't meet our basic
specifications as outlined in the Writers Guidelines. The most common
reasons why a story doesn't make the finalist cut are these:

* Falls too far shy of the 1,000-word minimum story length
* Far exceeds the 2,000-word maximum story length
* Not a narrative essay; does not follow the three-act story
structure and employ the essential storytelling elements; tells rather
than shows
* Not uplifting and positive enough (or at all)
* Writing style/format, topic, and/or language is (are)
inappropriate for the Cup of Comfort book category (inspirational) and
market (mainstream adult)
--------------------------

Extrapolate. If the editor is asking for xyz, give the editor xyz. (Or,
as my then HS freshman said about his English teacher, "How hard is it?
She tells you =exactly= what she wants. You give it to her!"
