But there are a few places where there is still a split speed limit
like Chicago and Springfield.
I didn't care what the signs said so I drove at the new limit but when
I saw a State Patrol officer inside a truck stop I asked him about it
just to see what he said.
He said the speed limit is 65 they just haven't changed the signs yet.
Too bad about the new cell phone laws.
Rocky - Can't drive 55
Are we allowed to go 72 MPH is IL now?
You could always get away with 62 when it was 55.

No cell phone at all in a school zone or road construction unless if
it is an emergency.
No texting or Internet while driving but Chicago might have a tougher
law than that.

Yes 62 was no problem before and only time will tell on the 72 but
I've seen trucks go by cops in the middle on January 1st when they
were probably doing 70+ and neither cop moved.

There was only one place I'd ever heard of a driver getting a ticket for
something under 65 in Illinois and it was around the Morton exit on I74.
Guess there was a cop with an attitude.
