If it's any consolation St. Louis has two terminals now, too. The main
and the east. They used to connect but because of loss of hub status
when TWA went belly up the number of flights, and resulting required
airport capacity has dwindled dramatically. As a result the concourse
that connects the two terminals was closed.

I got out that far on my 1994 trip. It had guard rails by then, but I heard
the stories about how "exciting" the bridge was before the guard rails were
added.

Are we sure it's on an interstate?
I tried to identify the area by the land and vegetation. From that my
guess is that it's in the southeastern or western quarters of the state.
Probably not the panhandle, either.
I don't feel like there's enough hills for it to be northern or

I've driven the road several times, and it is generally passible with a 2WD
vehicle with good ground clearance, but the condition can vary over the
summer. The sights you find at the end of the road at McCarthy and
Kennicott is well worth the effort.
Did you at least get to the Kuskulana Trestle at mile 17.4?

Possible tornado. My BlackBerry was going off with weather reports from the
Paducah NWS office, which serves that area, courtesy of the KY traffic incident
report service that I get through work. Funnel clouds were spotted on both the
MO and KY sides of the river and numerous severe thunderstorm warnings for that

After getting back to the hotel room, I checked the camera and found
problems with the photos of MO 21 at the state line, so I made a plan
adjustment.
Departure: 5:30AM. Had breakfast in Doniphan, then south on MO 21/AR
115, east on AR 328, north on US 67, east on US 60, north on MO 25 to
