Now slimmed down to 20mb from 245mb, same great music; sadly no title cards,
since I had some difficulty with audio sampling rates, but it's a
worthwhile trade, I'd say. Thanx and a tip of the hat to Eric Bryant of
Maine Drag fame(http://yakra.dyn-o-saur.com/roads/) who hipped me to using
the XVID codec and a haX0r3d version of Virtual Dub(nandub).

Tried it (and the earlier ones) on Windon't Internet Explosion...long
hang time trying to download (defaults to the Windon't Media Stopper).

I suggest Firefox, though, I didn't have any problems on WiMP... I did test
it. Try saving the files. That might work better.

Hm. I bet WiMP only knows to DL codecs it knows about - officially
sanctioned M$ ones, i'd bet.
Install the codec and it should work - http://koepi.org/xvid.shtml is a
good place for binaries.
Other MPEG-4 compliant AVI codecs can also handle XVID encoded content
- such as DIVX or 3IVX.
Other players hip to MPEG-4 can have their own routines, and can play
back MPEG-4 content in an AVI wrapper (or MOV or whatever else) without
having to have the VFW or DirectShow codecs for the specific FourCCs.
Quicktime and Nero ShowTime come to mind. (I've had this stuff playback
straight away on a mac with no trouble. Linux will take a little more
time; I'm still getting my feet wet.)

And Comrade - actually, as for Nandub... with VDub being OpenSource,
perhaps we could consider Nandub a fork? =)

It may be a problem with the compression. Squint a lot. It'll be better.

It may also be that the camera is focusing on my windscreen-I'm going to see
what I can do about that. The format isn't conducive to videophile quality,
and increasing the size of the movies would kick the filesizes up by a
factor of four at least. I'm still learning at this. Give it time. It'll
improve. I don't know if Windows Media players have the ability to adjust
deinterlacing quality-Kaffiene does, and putting the quality up makes
things look better-at the expense of hoggin the CPU. Not a major problem on
a dual-core Athlon, might be an ugly scenario w/other chips.

It's a Samsung A6 digital still camera-I'm using it's video function. I've
tried other videos and the results vary-I got a pretty nice vid of the NY
9D tunnel near Cold Spring, and that looks good. It's actually in
semi-retirement, now, as I got a Kodak C875 with my Christmas bonus(imagine
my surprise at that!), I couldn't resist-it was $199 with a free 2 gig
card(actually 2 1 gig cards, since Radio Shack was out of 2 gig cards.)
We'll see how that works out-Kodak cameras do Quicktime videos, which look
nice, but tend to be kind of like huge.

Just as well...I can't see some of your more recent .avi videos.
