UK road marking oddity

On the tv show "fast and dangerous" I keep seeing at first what I thought
was taped over marks that got out of whack. But after seeing these marks
show up rather frequently, they must have a meaning.

Not sure how to describe them other than maybe a series of "s"'s . Didn't
see enough of them to figure out just why they might be that way.

Anyong know more about this marking?

One site showed that a series of similar markings in a "v" shape indicated
a school zone. The ones I show were more clearly "S" shaped.

Could it be the zig-zag markings at pedestrian crossings? See Highway
Code rule 191:
