What are the chances of naming the corridor of us22 and other routes from
monroeville,pa to columbus,oh as future i-72? There is a group of people
called the pittsburgh to columbus corridor committe that wants to have a 4
lane expressway from pittsburgh,pa to columbus,oh by 2025.

Two chances: Fat and slim.

I-72 already exists in Illinois from Champaign to Hannibal, MO just
across the Mississippi River. Most of I-72 is co-signed with US-36
from Decatur west to Hannibal.

The chance is absolutely zero. Most of the OH 161/OH 37/OH 16/US 36
corridor that has been upgraded in Ohio west of Newcomerstown is at-
grade divided highway. There is no need to upgrade it to a full
freeway. If the segments along US 36 and US 250 east to Cadiz are
ever built, they'll probably be divided highways as well due to fairly
low traffic counts. (I don't see a tolled upgrade as ever happening
because it wouldn't offer a substantial improvement over the existing
roads.)

Beyond that, the states in question have long-standing history of
signing freeways as US and state routes. You're not going to see any
of them spend the money it would take on upgrades to bring the road up
to current Interstate standards.

well how about between pittsburgh and wintersville,oh? That is all 4 lane
divided highway although the median might not be 30 or 40 feet wide.

PennDOT is currently rebuilding the interchange with 22/30 & the
Parkway West in Robinson Township. It will most certainly not be
freeway to freeway (They're removing some loop ramps to reduce
weaving, and the plans I saw a year ago (they may have been changed)
had Westbound US-22/30 going through one new traffic signal.

I know a flyover ramp it probably cost-prohibitive for the area, but
did they consider revising the existing ramps and providing a short C/
D section on both sides? Just from a casual glance it looks like they
have enough ROW. (Disclaimer: not a CE.)

The Parkway will have a little C/D going on for that interchange and
adjacent one... but not Stubenville Pike (PA-60 & then 22/30)
I think looks may be deciving with the ROW. It's a pretty tight
interchange

Well, Giant Eagle @ that interchange has closed. If they can move the
Getgo, they would have more space.

it's a pain in the butt. Going from 376 to 22/30 west you have to come to a
complete stop now. There is no merge lane anymore and traffic occasionally
backs down the ramp onto the parkway itself. They took the merge lane out
and made it 3 lanes with a left turn lane from 60 to 376 east. Someone
wasn't thinking when they designed it and I'm sure there will be alot of
accidents especially people from out of town not realizing there isn't a
merge lane and getting rear ended.
