While doing some link/URL housecleaning for Highway Heaven this
afternoon, I noticed that Mike Wiley's Oregon Highways website has
disappeared completely. Does anyone know the situation with this, or
if it moved elsewhere?

The former URL was http://www.ylekot.com/orehwys/

I noticed that it had gone down 3 or 4 months ago. Looks like the
ylekot.com domain has gone to a payday loan site with page copywrites
of 2005. Don't know where Mike (or his site) went. Too bad because
he had a really good site on Oregon's strange highway system.

If someone contacts him and he's not interested in maintaining a
website, please let him know I'd be happy to host his content on my
(currently pitiful) Oregon site.

I'll go as far as saying Mike's site was excellent. I derived some
inspiration from his site over the years, including using old-style
route markers to denote former/decommissioned highways -- which I now
do on my Michigan and Wisconsin sites. I also found the site extremely
interesting before and after my 2004 Oregon-Washington-British Columbia
trip.

I hope all is well with Mike and if anyone contacts him, let him know
that. I hope someone can bring his great site back sometime soon with
his blessing. It'd be sad to loose it!

Later,
Chris

I echo the sentiment here: Mike's site was great and really inspired my
interest in roadgeekdom in general when I discovered it a few years
back. Unfortunately, the last I actually heard from Mike was in 2004,
when he briefly corresponded with me about Oregon's new routes. I hope
he can get the pages back up, or pass them along to someone else to
maintain, as they were one of the best road sites on the web.

Right now, the only other Oregon Highways page is Jason of O-Roads,
which is incomplete (and plagued by the evil that Angelfire is).

Hey all,

I'm still around!

I won't get into my personal drama, but I simply did not have the time
to invest into the site, so I let the domain go and brought down the
web site.

I'm hoping later this year I can bring the site back up with a new
domain name more appropriate for the purpose.

Stand-by!

...And thanks for all the compliments. It was a little like getting to
attend your own funeral...You don't realize the impact you had on
people until you go away!
