I have another term we can use to describe ourselves.
Odology/odologist.
Odo being the Greek word for road. Came across the word "odologist" in a
book, "Uneasy Rider, The interstate way of knowledge," by Mike Bryan. He
used it to describe John Brinkerhoff Jackson (who?!).
When I typed odologist and had yahoo search, I found that one of our British
brothers in roads had this term listed amongst his road dictionary:

So does this make us legit? :-)

"Via" is the Latin word for "road" or "way" or "street", e.g. "Via
aeternum" = "the eternal way", "via romana" = "Roman road", etc.

And "phile" is a catch-all Latin/Greek suffix meaning "lover" or
"enthusiast". It can also be a prefix, but as "phila", e.g.

Philadelphia = "brotherly love", phila + "adelphi" (Gk. for "brother")
philately = "lover of postage", phila + telios (Gk. for
"communication", "postage")
