During 1995/1997 we investigate the situation re. shortage of officers
at sea . The result was that there is a shortage that will grow and that
is
of different reasons. There was also many interesting answers coming
from this newsgroup, howewer, next projekt is to find out why the
biggest shotage are among the 1:st engineers (2.nd engineer in UK). In
Sweden and
Finland and the Åland islands there are 5 -6-7 times more students who
want to be master mariners insted of marine engineers. There must be
something rotten in the system!? Or what is your opinion?
