Boeing will deliver the first 747-8 freighter to Cargolux on September 19.

A few years ago, I joked that Boeing might deliver the first 747-8
before the first 787. Looks like it will happen after all !

Could someone confirm that the 747-8 will only come with GEnx engines ?
The Boeing web site is devoid of this information. It only mentions
using same engines as the 787 (but 787 has both GE and Rolls).

Would engine testing for GEnx attached to a 787 have been used for
engine testing for the 747-8, or would each variant be considered
different enough to require their own totally separate testing ?

Looks like Boeing is going to get lots of good publicity in the coming
weeks. It just announced an order for 25 787-900s from AIR-FRANCE/KLM
which is a big win when you consider AF would normally go to Airbus first.

Now, Boeing is delivering first 747-8 and soon the first 787.
