Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago,and our nation was the most
prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the
largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
And now in this great country of mine I have to "press 1" for English!

Those taxes go to pay for the social programs many Americans love so
dearly. Social programs that did not exist 100 years ago in the same
manner that they do today. What would you recommend the gov't do? Find
some magical way to just create welfare programs out of thin air, with
no money?
If you want to curtail taxation, find out what the taxes support and
work to eliminate those programs/agencies. You will probably find that
you support half the programs that these taxes fund. Then what???
