Just got a letter from the IRS. They are claiming I did my taxes wrong,
and that I owe them money plus interest, but I am convinced they made a
mistake. If they indeed made a mistake, will they owe me interest?

Before worrying about any potential interest they might pay you, don't
you think you should resolve the current underpayment situation,
first?
