I'm not sure if you are understanding the issue, or if you are asking the
question the wrong way.
Tuition reimbursement plans are supposed to be tax free. If this is not a
qualified tuition reimbursement program, then it is rightfully reported on
your W-2 and taxed accordingly.
If you can qualify for any tuition deductions or credits, you take them
accordingly.
Unless the education is required by the business, it's not an unreimbursed
employee business expense, like business mileage might be.
