"When one hears that the majority, not the constitution,
should define civil rights, one should feel a shiver of fear.
Constitutionally guaranteed rights protect gun owners,
property owners, people of different races and
many separate religions, to name a small number.
I will work to protect the rights of all,
not just some.

Hankies ? A hank of hair ? A Tom Hanks ? Oh, I know you mean the
things which used to be kept folded in the upper left shirt pocket of
the elite or in the back left pants pocket of the plebes! Alas,
Kleenex have removed the cherished art of properly folding boogers
away for later. Another thing missing is the folding hand fan used by
Ladies of yore in the fan dance. On to the next topic. A majority is a
concensus as is the Constitution which has withstood the test of time.
Both of them include the prefix con - to decieve, contrary, converse,
opposite, etc.etc. versus pro. Frankly, I would rather have the
Con-stitution rather than pro-stitution but am agreeable to a system
of checks and balances. Speaking of balances, Justice is portrayed
wearing a blindfold, perhaps that should be changed so that She can
better adjust that scale She holds in her hands. Recall the song "You
can get anything you want at Alice's restaurant". As for protecting
all versus few, as Spock said, the needs of the many outweigh the
needs of the few. Was Spock a communist - they say from each according
to his ability to each according to his need. Read "Animal Farm" to
see where THAT leads. Enlightened self interest is best in the face of
confiscatory "public" policy. Which drags in this rank business -
which gets preference the major-ity or the private-s ? Maybe it is
time to call in some sergeants, whose world weary cynicism coupled
with boundless optimism grease the wheels of civilization!
