Hi
My girlfriend has a flower garden in the yard with some
of those landscaping railroad ties around it. Recently, we've
noticed some piles of "sawdust" around the wood and come to find
that some little wood-eating bugs have been eating at them. My
question is what, if any, type of spray, paint, protection can
we put on the wood that will keep the bugs away but not kill the
flowers? Any suggestions?

Yes, try any chlorodane sp? replacement, Ortho used to make one
called Orthodane. There are some new ones on the market now. This will
work for about any woodboring insects including termites (we've got them
bad around here) and powder post beetles. They sell the stuff at K-Mart
and most any Co-Op and garden/farm supply store here.
