All of the old ranch houses here in southern California were painted white
with green trim (including mine). I'm thinking about going back to the
original colors, but it will be difficult to try to match the paint colors.
Does anyone happen to know the name of these colors?
Or have any suggestions? Any other common paint color combo for
ranches/lodges/farms? (I'm only familiar with So. Cal., and I'm also
thinking white will be difficult to keep clean with the dusty Santa Anas, so
maybe some other area had a lower maintenance color-scheme?).

If I remember rightly it was whitewash a type of lime paint that was used on our
place in southern CA for the white part and they would dump a package of rit
green dye in a five gallon bucket of whitewash for the green part. This was real
standard in the 1930`s LOL I can see you now doing the tom sawyer bit. Have fun
it is a hot and messy way of painting the house and had to be done every year. I
know I had the job for a couple teen summers. Good luck Phill-az

Matching colors is a snap. Just take a paint sample to any professional
paint store, where they will put it in a spectrum analyzer and match it
perfectly on the first try. For going over an old surface, alkyd is
excellent.

White has obvious advantages for a house in the southern desert. It will
save you a mint on air conditioning costs.
