Anyone have an interest in old tractors or new for that matter?
I'm hoping to find a compact tractor by spring that is 4x4 unlocking
rear, pto and front end loader capable. Got a few acres with 2.5 acre
yard.
Need to dig post holes etc, and tow trailer for cleanup, and chipper for
downed limbs etc.
Just started looking and in the grand scheme of things 15,000 isn't
probably too much but 7,000 would be better.
At Rural Kind in Ind a year or so ago they had a Chinese tractor with
about 25 hp pto and hydraulic but rear didn't unlock and it was probably
a bit large. It was around 7,000.

An older farm tractor might fit your needs if you don't need the 4WD.
A wide front end is almost necessary for a front end loader. I have
seen tricycle types with loaders though.
Some sources: Ebay. Big Iron. Fastline. Tractor House. There are
many more online of course.
Our irrigation set up crew had a Zetor, made in Czechoslovakia. I
think it was a bit crude but it did the work. He was satisfied with it.
There is a website called TractorData.com that might help your search.
Another would be yesterdaystractors.com Still another would be the
Nebraska tractor test lab.

Those 3 cylinder diesels can do a surprising amount of work.

I bought a BX 1860 about 6 weeks ago. 54": mower deck, front end loader,
approx. $14,000. It does what I ask of it. Same with the '50 FOrd 8N that
I've had since 1994. $3,000 in '94 with a fresh rebuilt engine. Old and
new both have their uses and functions they're good for.

Mine is a BX1800. Probably paid almost as much back in 2000 for the
tractor, bucket in the front, and box scraper in the back. Have moved an
awful lot of dirt over the years. 18HP isn't really enough for some tasks.
Have to pull heavily laden trailer uphill backwards for the low gearing.

If I didn't have the 8N and access to my father-in-law's 35 hp New Holland
that has 4WD, a FEL and a backhoe, I probably would have bought a 2360 or
2660.
