For most people it would be cheaper to activate an IPhone for 31 days
and then pay the AT&T $175 ETF!
$200 +$35 +$76 + $175 = $486 for 16GB iPhone
Do you see an error in my Math or Logic?

Business much be much worse than I thought.....
The 8 GB version is $200. The 16 GB is $300. So your example is about
$100 short but still a savings of over $100.
What is the $76 charge in your example?
After thinking about this some more, I wonder why one would get this
phone if he is going to cancel service which you would have to do to
cancel the contract. It really doesn't make much sense to pay this
much for a phone for less than a year anyway.
So, I don't see the logic either.
I have local friends that have iPhones and they want more to give as
gifts to relatives who are not on the AT&T Network. In some cases they
want to give the existing iPhone to a relative in another country and
buy a new one for themselves.
The $76 is the tariff with $10 taxes etc for one month on AT&T
No, they are trying to work through their inventory before the new model
comes out this summer.
Prediction is that the new model is going to address the remaining
issues that are keeping the iPhone from moving up in terms of market
share--including vitally important features to enterprise users.
$699! That's pretty funny.
I suspect that it's one month of service.
This has been promised since the 3G was released last year. Finally,
it is made available.
I guess it could be useful if you were to break your existing phone,
such as washing it, and you weren't eligible for an upgrade. You can
buy a new one from a reputable source, rather than risk a bad
transaction on eBay.

He's gonna make it boot Windows programs??
He'll open up the system to Enterprise IT departments to install their own
software and security on it?
Until this happens, it'll never be of any use to Enterprise....a picky
group of SECURITY people, to be sure.
Other things are missing....replaceable battery, memory card slot, etc.,
also enterprise solutions.
Many enterprises here are buying NETBOOKS by the hundreds!
They already can, it's called the Enteprise iPhone Developer Program.
While others are buying iPhone OS devices by the MILLIONS... big
difference Larry.
No, no....I think you misunderstand. IT will NEVER, repeat NEVER, let
Apple mother them as to what they can and cannot do. Apple will never be
allowed to see any real IT department software, either....
Where did this come from, some blogger you quote, regularly?
MILLIONS of enterprises are buying the iPhone?
Do you think Apple is going to permanently write off the Enterprise?
They'll be dragged, kicking and screaming perhaps, into producing an
iPhone that is suitable for the Enterprise. Things are changing at
Apple. The stubbornness will lessen with the changes in management.
But you're wrong about netbooks. It's not hundreds, it's millions, and
it's having a negative effect on sales of more expensive small laptops
like the UPCs.
I think *you* misunderstand. If you use the Enterprise developer
programme, you can distribute iPhone applications within your own
organisation without them being approved (or even seen) by Apple.
