iPhone 3G Query

I'm currently utilizing MS Outlook on my laptop and have it synced to the
iPhone 3G.

Question: is it possible to have the e-mails automatically deleted off the
laptop (while Outlook is not open) after they're downloaded and viewed on
the iPhone?

If you use IMAP on all your devices it will happen. It is a little
tricky to get it right in Outlook but once setup properly it works.

That is why IMAP was invented in the first place,
