all Android phoes are considered "smartphones" even the el-cheapo $50
ones made by Huawei and ZTE for developping nation markets. And this
includes phones currently sold with old Android versions because of
underpowered CPUs.
BTW, a big announcement today from Google:
They will sell a Samung Galaxy S4 loaded with Google's version of
Android for which Google will provide software upgrades. Google will
sell the phone unlocked and unlocked bootloaded too.
One aspect that came out: Android is a Java engine for applications (as
opposed to a Unix environment).
Google has had many legal problems with Oracle, the owner of Java.
