Monday next to the bars in the upper left corner where it says ATT
started saying off network.

I started getting text from ATT about off-network usage. It turns out
my work is off network and Iv'e been using 250mbs a month and you are
only allowed 6 mb off-network.

The rep said that sometimes it takes several months, Iv'e had it for a
year, to catch the overage and that's when the turn on the off-network
signal, who knew?

He said I can change carriers with no early termination charges.

Anyone else have this happen?

When's the HTC Hero hit the US?

What does "off-network" mean?

Roaming.

AT&T allows you to use data when roaming on another carrier, but reserves
the right to terminate your service if you use too much.

I'm not sure. Basically I'll have a 16 gb. Ipod touch that still
works on wireless.

If you are not able to have AT&T make a new decision, and assuming you
are uner contract, you have two other options:

a) Switch to a GoPhone plan with AT&T, which may be expensive if you
use more than 200 minutes of cell calls per month; but it gives you
service with them.

b) Jailbreak and Unlock it and you can use any SIM with it (i.e,
T-Mobile in the US, Movistar or Telcel in Mexico, etc.)

For option "b", here's the link to the Dev-Team site, where all you
need to jailbreak/unlock is free: http://blog.iphone-dev.org/

If you choose to jailbreak/unlock your iPhone, you will void your
warranty. Read all the instructions before you do it and you should
have an AT&T free iPhone!

Hope this helps.

Luis.

Is your work in a specific office? Just set up a wifi router there if so.
