I just attended a small local fair in Wisconsin. No where on the
grounds did they provide drinking water from the tap. A person had
the choice of buying way overpriced bottled water, or drink beer or
soda, which was actually cheaper than the water. Even the bathroom
sinks would not give drinking water because they had these sinks with
small streams that are barely enough to wash hands, much less fill a
cup. While all the people were deprived of water unless they wanted
to get robbed on that bottled stuff, the livestock had a hose. Guess
where I got my water. I bet that hose was a lot better than that
bottled water. Of course some security guy had a fit when he saw me
in by the animals drinking from their hose.

Personally I do not like bottled water, but I would not have bought
any even if it was priced fairly, unless I was desperate.

Now here's the issue. Isn't there some sort of law that requires water
to be available for drinking? (and I dont mean the stuff you buy).
I think they are just being greedy and I am not pleased about it.
I complained to the fair on their little suggestion cards, but I
intend to complain to the state if there is any justification to this.
The temperature was around 90 deg. and people could have become ill.
I think I would have been one if I had not found that hose. Some of
us are on low fixed incomes, and I am one that cant afford to pay an
outrageous price for a bottle of water, and I need water to take my
medications. I was not the only person to complain about this. I
heard another person get rather irate about it.

Does anyone know how I find out what the law requires for public
events in Wisconsin, (or other states).

Thanks

Sal

Best to check with your local Health department and find out if they have
any laws in that area.
You could also raise a little fuss with the operators of the fair so that
next time they'd at least consider putting in drinking water fountains.
But I have been to numerous fairs, including state operated ones, where
drinking water was not readily available but soda and beer was.
What gripes me is that you can't go to a baseball game taking your own
liquids with you to save from paying their high prices. Why? Because you
didn't pay for it there. They lose money that way you know.
I was at a tourist attraction one time. Paid for a drink at their facility
inside it. Went out to the car. Tried getting back in and the guy refused to
let me back in because I had a drink in my hand. Even though it was
purchased on their property.
