Subject: Don't Pay Your Taxes Go to Jail. The Health Insurance Tax

The taxpayer could be taxed for not having health insurance. As long as
the taxpayer pays the tax they will not face any penalties. Republicans
want to paint this as putting people in jail for not buying health
insurance. This is no different then letting a taxpayer having a deduction
for dependents or a tax on luxury items.

For example, a family income is $100,000 per year with two kids. The
medical insurance bill is $15,000 per year, however the tax is 2.5% for
not having health insurance. The tax assessed on the family is $2500 per
year for not having health insurance.

Congress could also write the tax laws so that if any taxpayer does not
have health insurance they could not claim Earned Income Credit or any
personal deductions.

Remember the Constitution gives the Congress the power to tax:
http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sixteenth_Amendment_to_the_United_States...
and tomorrow they can tax everyone 5% for any reason as long as it does
not violate the Fourteenth Amendment. So if Congress wanted to tax all
cigarette smokers or owners of automobiles 2.5% they could do it. The only
item that stops the Congress from raising taxes to 90% is the fact that
the people will vote them out of office.

According to recent reliable polls a majority of American citizens want a
solution to the cost of medical care and medical insurance. The majority
of Americans elected Obama as their President and he campaigned for
medical insurance coverage and change.

I have health insurance that I pay good money for and work hard for. I am
tired of people that own $100,000 homes showing up at the hospital with no
health insurance and then filing for bankruptcy letting others pay their
health care bills through higher prices. 17 million people that don't have
health insurance have assets in excess of $100,000 dollars according to
2005 census data.

If you look across America there are no protesters against Medicare,
Medicaid and employer provided insurance. There is just a minority group
of citizens that already most likely have health insurance against others
having insurance. Some of the protesters receive government provided
insurance after they paid for it for years in a Medicare tax and through
premiums they now pay through Social Security.

The Republicans that are against a health care solution all have nice
homes, jobs and excellent health insurance. It seems to me that they want
people that don't make $100,000 per year to die quietly instead of getting
health care. I guess instead of Government death panels, Republicans are
OK with the death of people lying outside of a hospital as a better
solution for America.

Remember everyone will be paying for health care instead of just certain
employers and citizens that pay for health insurance that supplement the
minority that have no health insurance and simply file for bankruptcy
instead of paying the bill.

I guess it would be OK with some people if Congress and the States
repealed the law that requires hospitals to provide essential medical care
in emergencies. That way when a person goes to a hospital the first words
out of the mouth of a doctor would be do you have health insurance or will
this be Visa or Mastercard? 911 operators could ask someone having a heart
attack if they have health insurance before dispatching an ambulance to
their location. The vast majority of Americans don't want an America where
that occurs so it just common sense that everyone pays for health care
rather then a majority pay for a minority of citizens.

IMHO.

Today, Ranking Member of the House Ways and Means Committee Dave Camp
(R-MI) released a letter from the non-partisan Joint Committee on Taxation
(JCT) confirming that the failure to comply with the individual mandate to
buy health insurance contained in the Pelosi health care bill (H.R. 3962,
as amended) could land people in jail.  The JCT letter  makes clear that
Americans who do not maintain “acceptable health insurance coverage” and
who choose not to pay the bill’s new individual mandate tax (generally
2.5% of income), are subject to numerous civil and criminal penalties,
including criminal fines of up to $250,000 and imprisonment of up to five
years.
