Would OPEC or a meeting be illegal in the US?

This may be a urban legend. Being Venezuelan (the country that founded
OPEC) I tend to discuss this among friends who are Economics or
Lawyers. I have mentioned to them that if OPEC should meet in the US,
the participants would be jailed, because the organization is a
cartel.

Any truth to that???
