Thomson-Reuter (West) is one of the major reference sources of legal
information but it is mostly in the formats requiring human
interaction. I am wondering if there is an Internet-based source that
one could subscribe to be able to send automated (computer-to-computer)
inquires about the current legal info.

Just like it's possible to check the current time automatically, is
there a server that, for example, returns the current age of consent
for a given state or the current limit of National Debt (set by US
Congress)?

I suspect there is not much of this in existence but what have someone
heard about at least any pilot projects?

Google -- similar to Westlaw or LexisNexis specializing on legal
content -- responds in the way suitable for human consumption. I am
interested in so-called Web Service format, most suitable for
computer-to-computer interactions.

Google the quoted phrase "Reconciled Data Dictionary". Several things
on the first pages of results look promising.
