articles I've read on the Palin candidacy. I've been trying to get
Marcy and her husband up to Alaska to speak - and fish - since 2007. I
have a hunch they'll be here in summer, 2009, covering the end game of
Sarah Palin's political career]
I was one of the first to note that Palin's actions suggested she was
running for President in 2012 rather than VP in 2008. But that doesn't
mean I think she'd be successful. Here are my thoughts why I'm not all
that worried about a Palin juggernaut in 2012.
I understand why the right has seized on Palin with such enthusiasm.
They were successful with Bush because he allowed them to unify
ideologically contradictory stances. Neocon imperialism and its
associated crony defense capitalism is not a fiscally conservative
position. Moreover, the promise of Compassionate Conservatism could
only appease the charitable instincts of a lot of Conservative
Christians so long. Mostly, though, Bush was only able to sustain
these irreconcilable positions for five years or so by being an empty
cipher--appealing to Neocons, fiscal conservatives, and Christian
Conservatives--with the force of personality, thereby hiding the
reality that at least one of those three groups (as it happened,
fiscal conservatives and to a lesser degree, Christian Conservatives)
would be ignored.
Palin is similar, only with her, the Republicans get to further
obscure the emptiness of her positions with sex appeal. All the calls
on Palin to lead the Republicans out of the apparent disaster they're
about to undergo are premised on the hope that she can wink and
demagogue her way out of the contradictions to the claims they make.
But such hopes for Palin's leadership are most likely to fail.
To understand why, consider first of all the two people who, in 2004,
seemed poised to inherit George Bush's mantle: Bill Frist and George
Allen. Because you can no longer hide corruption, incompetence, and
ugly racism, they were completely forgotten long before the primaries
started. Conditions suggest that Palin's going to meet a similar--if
not worse--fate.

Well, I've got a child with Down Syndrome, too. And maybe it's just
me, but never have I been inclined to dress her as Dumbo the Elephant.
What planet does this woman live on? Why is this baby not getting
early intervention education instead of being dragged around like a
floppy doll? If ony Sarah Palin knew that the special needs of her own
child need to be met while he is still an infant, maybe I'd have some
hope that she knew what she was talking about when she talks about
meeting the needs of children with disabiities.
Sometimes I just want to tell her, "Hold your baby. Look at your baby.
Kiss his little face. He needs you to be his mother not his stage
manager."

Sarah's I.Q.
Having devoted over 30 years of my life to the practice of
psychology, I was shocked to discover the actual extent of Sarah
Palin's diminished intellect, although hardly surprised she is
developmentally challenged. Her 83 full scale Wechsler I.Q. reported
in her Wasilla High School records was labeled Dull Normal at that
time and ,in fact, 83 was just slightly above the range labeled
Borderline Retarded ( 70-80 I.Q. ). Her SAT scores were also similarly
deficient,thus serving to confirm her sub-normal I.Q
In fact, Sarah's resume reveals similar deficiencies in most every
area of her life; 2.2 high school grade average, dropping out of
college 5 times before finally receiving a degree after six years from
the fifth college she attended,marrying an Alaska secessionist,
supporting Kenyan witch doctors; corrupt,vindictive abuses of power
during her mayorship and current governorship , erratic beliefs
regarding the earth being but 6000 years old and Jesus co-existing
with dinosaurs,etc.etc,etc.
The fact John McCain was so instantly captivated by her undoubtedly
speaks to his having graduated 894th of 899 in his class and later
having " lost " 5 aircraft he was piloting during his naval aviation
career. " Birds of a feather flock together ", " it takes one to know
one ", etc, etc, etc.

Writing in the Philadelphia Inquirer, Jerry Coyne says that Sarah
Palin’s criticism of fruit flies during her disability speech
demonstrates her ignorance and contempt for science. Fruit flies, he
says, provide most of what we know about how genes are passed on in
humans, as well as significant insights into epilepsy, Alzheimer’s and
