How long does it generally last? ds is 5 months now and for the past
two months I've been losing hair in clumps! I don't remember it
lasting this long the last two times. What's a normal range?

Up to 6 months. Most women's hair growth cycle will go back to normal around
1 year postpartum. From what I read, if it's not back to normal after a
year, see your doctor. PP hair loss that fall outside the norm may be caused
by common causes such as low iron levels or low thyroid hormone; they would
be easily remedied.

I was surprised when mine only *started* falling out at 4months post (
the books state it's more like 6weeks post ! ).

ATM, I have to use the dustbuster in the bathroom every morning, and
there is hair all over my clothes, the baby, the rug in the living room.
I feel like the missing link !

I think it *is* tapering off though ( ? ). Bebe coming up to 6months
old ....

Ok, this is reassuring to me, since mine just started to fall out a couple
of weeks ago in clumps in the shower and my baby's now almost 4-1/2
months...

Mine has been falling out since 8 or 10 weeks post partum. This is my
second time that pregnancy has left me with actual bald patches near my
temples. Its starting to grow back in now, and DD is 5 1/2 months old.

I didn't realise I had a bald patch in one spot until it started growing
back. If I pull my hair back off my face, you can really see it ;)

Met with a girlfriend yesterday ( she has a 1yr old ), and she said she
went to the hairdressers recently who asked "have you had a baby
recently ?". Apparently she could tell from the regrowth around the
temple!

All this sounds like my experience....I thought I wasn't going to experience
the postpartum hair loss I kept hearing about, but when my baby was over 4
months old, it started falling out in clumps, majorly! Handfuls per
day...it's a wonder I'm not bald....it hasn't thinned out so much visibly
that I can tell (at least not enough for it to be a big deal, or any visible
bald spots), but it was shocking- both the amount coming out daily getting
everywhere- the shower, my brush, the floor, AND the fact that it was
happening not right after giving birth but months later!!

It is still happening a lot. I wonder how long it can go on in this amount,
and NOT be noticeable to the eye!
