Many of you will remember that Wardtwin posted a couple of months ago that
she was considering whether she should try to work from home, doing pencil
sketches for people. She provided a link to the sketches she had done of
her own son (which are wonderful), and asked whether anybody would like to
volunteer to have her try to do a sketch for them from one of their own
photos.

Having always wished that I had a nice portrait of William and I nursing, I
thought that this perhaps might be a nice way to go about it, and asked her
whether she would be willing to make a sketch from a picture which I had of
us nursing. She agreed.

WHAT A GORGEOUS SKETCH!!!!!!

It is now safely matted and framed, and will I hope become as treasured a
family heirloom as it already is treasured for its own innate beauty.

Elisabeth: Thank you!!!

Wow, what a terrific sketch! I know that when I have a baby, I would
like to have a picture or drawing to look back upon to remind me of that
time, and to show the child when he or she is older and may not be able
to recall nursing. How wonderful for William to have such a portrait to
see when he is older and can appreciate the gift you gave him!

I also want to extend my highest compliments to the artist, if she is
reading this or if it can be passed on to her! I also do portraits from
photograghs, but I am unable to draw humans well... so I do animals (see
first link below if curious). I understand fullly the difficulty of
capturing what the buyer wants... it is truly a challenge to get the
mood which they are seeking, or to get the certain tilt of the eyes or
solemnity of expression which the photo might not show but which
portrays THEIR pet. It must be harder indeed with humans, tenfold! So,
great artist, you have my deepest respect, and I hope your business is a
success!

-Shawna

I missed Wardtwin's original post. How can I get in touch with her?
I've always wanted to get a sketch done of my parents from two photos I
have when they were still twentysomething...

I must concur, having met Anne and her son last year. I *love* the sketch,
and you must feel so privileged to own such a gorgeous illustration of your
nursing relationship. Elisabeth did a fantastic job (oh, and congrats to
you Elisabeth on baby #2 :) and I have no doubts that she'll have a thriving
business for her portraits :-)
