A brief introduction...
I am a mechanical/marine engineer, with 22 years of employment in the
Canadian Federal government, and a range of military and civilian experience,
including operation and design on propulsion, power generation and "hotel"
services in Naval vessels. During this time, I have also had the opportunity to
act in a consultant capacity to the USN "LAMPS" program, and am currently
involved in the review of all "platform" Engineering Changes proposed for
Canadian naval vessels.

Direction of activities of a group engaged in life cycle management
activities (design, development, T & E, R&O specification, modification. (also

Responsibility and authority for introducing equipment into service, its
in-service support and eventual disposition. (Marine propulsion systems
equipments, including props, shafting, large diameter seals and bearings)
Managed and directed 2 large naval ship propeller design and development
projects leading to manufacture, full-scale testing and set-to-work.
Conducted technical specialist reviews of propulsion systems design
submissions for Halifax class frigates.
Life Cycle Material management, project management and project
leadership, propeller design, international liaison, contracting
procedures, model and full-scale testing.
1978 - 1980 MECHANICAL ENGINEERING CONSULTANT to the US Navy
Joint US-Can Project Office
Department of National Defence, Canada
Member of a 4-person project office charged with directing the activities
of contractor and various USN agencies to develop and produce a
helicopter recovery system for shipboard use. Acted primarily as a
mechanical engineering consultant to the design effort.
Hydraulic design, structural and mechanical design, foreign liaison,
familiarity with foreign and Mil Specs, international information
exchange agreements (IEF's), and memoranda of understanding (MOU's).
1972 - 1978 NAVAL ENGINEER (Canadian Military Service)
Service in Steam and Gas Turbine propelled ships acquiring operator
certification for both plants, and auxiliary machinery. Acted in the
capacity of Main Propulsion Officer for Canadian Navy Frigate (1977/78)
with gas turbine propulsion, including responsibility for the operation and
maintenance of the ship's propulsion plant, and personnel management of 33.
