in the development of market-leading information systems and
software packages in the United States.

COMPUTING SKILLS
Familiar with PRIME, VAX/VMS, UNIX and DOS operating systems.
Proficient programmer in FORTRAN, Pro*FORTRAN, BASIC and C.
Graphics based programming in PostScript and HPGL.

EMPLOYMENT
Sept 1991-Mar 1992 Employed as Research Associate at the University of
Edinburgh.
At the request of the Regional Research Laboratory (RRL)
Scotland continued development of the pilot GIS created
for my M.Sc. thesis. This pilot GIS (named the Education
Data Analysis System) was written in Fortran and
Pro*Fortran, with links to Arc/Info, Oracle, PostScript,
GIMMS and Harvard Graphics. Research results were analysed
using the statistical packages MINITAB and SPSSx.
Mar 1992-Oct 1992 Joined Locust Modelling Research Project, sponsored by
the Food Advisory Organisation (FAO). This project seeks
to better understand the locust problem in North Africa
and create a computer model to help predict and control
future locust swarms.
Aug 1992 Promoted to System Programmer for UK BORDERS (UK Boundary
Outline and Reference Database for Education and Research
Studies) project. This project seeks to make the digital
boundaries of the 1991 British Census collection areas and
associated data accessible over the academic network in
the UK. Responsible for the system design and for data
storage considerations.
Sept 1992 Part of three-person team employed to organise and present
an ARC/INFO v.6 training course.
Oct 1992-present Promoted to Project Officer for UK BORDERS project and
to Research Fellow. Currently responsible for all issues
relating to project organisation, including personnel,
hardware and software appraisal and acquisition, system
design, creation and implementation.
