I am a Landscape Architect planning to relocate to Europe.
I would like to make contacts within the related fields
of European Landscape Architecture, Horticulture, Landscape
Contracting Garden Design and Maintenance. I am currently working
for Ivey, Harris and Walls, Inc., a large land design firm in
Orlando, Florida. My work brings me in regular contact with
a variety of large scale projects which supports our substantial
civil engineering and urbanism departments. Our clients include
Disney and Universal Studios.
I prefer to live in Western Europe but would like stay flexible
in terms of other locations such as the newly formed Eastern
European nations. France is definitely my top priority but
countries such as Slovenia would also be a wonderful experience.
Because my desire to live in Europe is so great but my ability to
speak other languages is not yet fluent, I will accept a position
far below what my CV would suggest. This includes working
at a nursery or with a garden installation contractor. At this
level I believe my talents and knowledge can help any European
landscape company. Simultaneously, it will also help me get
established while giving me time to learn the native language.
Considering how difficult it is for an American to find work
in Europe, I would be extremely happy to find work of any
kind initially.
My strengths are planting design, plant material knowledge (zones:
10-5 in U.S.A.), AutoCAD and the understanding of traditional
town and pedestrian oriented urban design principles. I have
practical experience with several design/build landscape contractors
and nurseries. For the past three years I have work in the field of
landscape architecture. This includes experience working at my
father's architectural practice.
My education consist of a five-year Bachelor's degree in Landscape
Architecture from the University of Georgia, a nationally accredited
program and an Associates of Science Degree from Valencia
Community College in Orlando.
Besides finishing course work at Studies Abroad Program
in Cortona, Italy (part of the University of Georgia),
I have worked and travel in both Europe and South America.
While in these countries, I taught myself about their particular
art, urbanism, architecture, garden designs and landscape plants.
Ever since I attended school in Italy I had hoped to some
day relocate to Europe. That day is now! I have greatly
enjoyed working internationally and learning about other
cultures. I wish to continue this by relocating to Europe
because it will expand my professional experience. By
absorbing it's culture and exposing myself to it's rich
history of art and architecture, I hope to take my talents
and abilities as a designer to a higher level.
I will include my resume for your review. I greatly anticipate
your positive response.
Thank you for your assistance and time.
Most sincerely,
Mark Warriner
