I am seeking a position as a statistical consultant or programmer/analyst in
the Cleveland area. I have graduate degrees in computer science, statistics,
and educational research and 24 years of experience in computer programming,
systems analysis, statistical analysis, and data management on IBM and VAX
mainframes and microcomputers. I have successfully managed a division of a
computer center and directed an academic computer center.

My resume documents years of successfully providing computer and statistical
services in an academic environment. I have always held positions that
required my computing, statistics, and research methodology skills. I have
worked in computing centers providing custom programming, systems analysis,
statistical consulting, and management. My statistical consulting experience
has been varied, including agricultural, psychological, medical, and
educational applications. My current job is to provide statistical consulting
to the faculty, staff, and students of a medical school. I also maintain a
close working relationship with colleagues in the computer center, acting as
the division liaison. I provide programming for the staff of my division and
am the SAS consultant for the university. I am also the system manager for
the clinical research center on campus.

I believe my training and experience will allow me to make a valuable
contribution to my employer. I am eager to move to Cleveland because of a
recent family move and would be able to begin work 3-4 weeks after being

Work Experience

For the past 24 years, I have provided statistical and computing service for
faculty, staff, and students at academic institutions.

At Kansas State University, I worked for ten years in the user services
section of the computer center. I consulted on programming projects, provided
custom programming, managed several employees, edited a newsletter, gave
seminars, taught short courses, and provided statistical consulting to
faculty, staff, and students.

As the director of the Washburn University Academic Computer Center, I was
responsible for all phases of academic computing at a small, four-year liberal
arts college. I administered a budget, purchased equipment and supplies, and
managed a staff of three full-time and five part-time employees. During my
time at Washburn, I also provided statistical consulting for the faculty as
well as for researchers at the Menninger Foundation.

I began work at the University of Tennessee, Memphis, as a systems analyst in
the computer center. In this position, I provided both custom programming and
statistical consulting. When the Division of Biostatistics was created, I
worked half-time in each division. I found the statistical consulting so
challenging and rewarding that I joined the biostatistics group on a full-time
basis. My job has entailed statistical consulting for various medical
research projects in a variety of departments. I recommend, conduct, and
interpret data analyses, help design studies, write statistical methodology
sections for grants and articles, assist the staff with programming and
computer needs, and teach seminars and short courses on statistical analysis
and statistical computing. The most recent change in my job is to provide
computer services for the clinical research center for 20% of my time. I am
responsible for purchasing and maintaining a fleet of microcomputers that are
linked to the university's computer center, for reviewing research proposals,
and for helping researchers manage their data.

My work experience includes statistical analysis of agricultural,
psychological, sociological, educational, and medical data. I am familiar with
VAX, IBM, Macintosh, and Prime computer systems and am well versed in FORTRAN,
COBOL, PL/1, SAS, SPSS, and BMDP. I also use various application programs for
word processing, graphics, spreadsheets, and data bases.

The most rewarding part of my job is being able to help my clients achieve
their goals. I have found that my background in both computer science and
statistics has enabled me to contribute significantly to the various projects
on which I have been working.
